Not the most interesting stuff here, but FUN nonetheless. St. Patrick’s Day always sneaks up on me because I am not a saint, nor am I Irish. Although it does mark the anniversary of my move from Whitefish to Missoula back in 1998 for a job with a local brewery, so there is some inherent nostalgia. I planned on getting boiled dinner going early in the day, but it did not happen until late in the afternoon. I figured I would try my hand at Irish Soda Bread in the Dutch Oven.
Earlier in the day, I attempted making cheese marking my second unsuccessful attempt at taffy like mozzarella. My curdled mess was silken, freshly fragrant, and had the smoothness of oatmeal. Fortunately, the freshness of the milk and satisfaction of making something on my own, outweighed the visually disappointing result. Sunday afternoon, I made Corned Beef Hash and Grilled Cheese using homemade Irish Soda Bread and my curdish Motz.
